Bram Cohen’s Chia AMA on April 22, 2021 with Chia China #1 Group (CCG)

I haven’t made it through all of this yet, but will this weekend. Looks great!

This is a AMA video with Chia network founder Bram Cohen who created BitTorrent. Main questions as below:

About Chialisp & LISP:

  1. Why do you choose Lisp as the basic laguage not others to make chialisp? What is the advantages and disadanvantages compared with “solility” in your opinion ?
  2. What is the current development progress of chialisp? Is it on Layer 1 or Layer 2?.
  3. Is there any successful application case of chialisp? Or some application under developing on Chialisp?.
  4. Whether chialisp can realize the function of DeFi and NFT. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of Etherum smart contract.

For the 21 million Chia Strategic Reserve

we found that there will be loan business and also the early organizational investor may also have choice to change their “share” to XCH coin.

Who will decide the borrow and lend rate ? How to guarrantee that the early organiztion investor not directly change too many XCH coins

As you know ,there is only around 3 million XCH by farming in ther 1st year, but there is 21 million strategy reserve. How to make use of these and make it transparent and open will be sensitive to all Chia communities

Pooling protocol and farming questions:

  1. Will Chia employ the staking function to farming in the future?
  2. Whether the block award is a lottery mode or based on the calculation power( plot’s proportion in total) ?

Marketing questions:

  1. When does Chia plan to start the storage ecosystem , what kind of mechanism (economic model) is the storage scosystem, and what is the latest development progress of the storage ecosystem now?

Project development issues:

  1. What is the current TPS of Chia and whether the lightning payment function has been activated?
  2. Where can we find the development roadmap and progress of Chia?

Questions for Bram:

  1. Some people make a question about you. why Bram didn’t contribute to the Chia network code on GitHub?
  2. Chia’s use of hard disk capacity has led to a sharp rise in hard disk prices. What is your opinoin about this situation?

So he said, that they will make possible to change the pool with the plot you own, right?

Not sure where he says that? Talk about pooling starts around here: https://youtu.be/ujwSdIkKDZ8?t=1600

25:43
but uh really our top priority right now
25:46
is making a good pooling protocol
25:48
um so there is one group that's doing a
25:50
pool right now
25:51
and it's using a very bad pooling
25:53
protocol um
25:55
i think it's very very important we
25:57
really want to have two features
25:59
of our pooling protocol uh number one
26:02
being that the actual farmers make the
26:04
blocks
26:05
yes that it's not the the pool
26:08
making the blocks it's the farmer making
26:10
the blocks and the pool is just helping
26:12
smooth out rewards
26:13
to everyone who's participating because
26:16
that really dramatically reduces the
26:17
amount of centralized power
26:19
that pools have and number two
26:23
it should be possible to change what
26:25
pool you're pointing at
26:26
right if you if you farm a bunch uh
26:30
if you make a bunch of plots uh and you
26:33
point them to a pool and you decide you
26:34
want to switch to another pool later
26:36
you should be able to do that so we're
26:38
building a pooling protocol that has
26:40
uh both of those features which is a
26:42
much much better way of doing things
26:44
uh we're trying to get that out as
26:47
quickly as we possibly can right now
26:49
so everybody please don't use bad
26:50
pulling protocols

So you can switch between pools, but he doesn’t say if you can use your currently existing plots. However, if you can switch pools then I’m not sure if there’s a limitation to using your current plots, let’s hope so!

Edit: I realize that I might have read your question wrong, maybe that was exactly what you were asking :slightly_smiling_face:
