Apparently CNI is now planning to have 2 different plot formats, one for HD one for SSD.
I don’t see ANY logic behind this, since the files are intended to be “write once read many times” and SSD big speed difference is on the WRITE side.
It’s not just write speed, the biggest difference is in seek times. The HD plots have minimal number of seeks, where SSD are seek heavy. This is causing to have HD plots be not cost effective on SSDs (too big plots leading to high SSD cost), and SSD plots (smaller) suffering on the seek side when used on HDs.
