By the time pools roll around how can we manage farming from the pool plots and solo plots?
Would we have to setup on another computer and how would we be able to avoid node/sync issues?

The Pooling FAQ says
Our recommendation is to slowly replace your existing plots with portable plots one by one, so you still have a chance to win XCH while you convert to all portable plots.
