Challenge time : less than 30 seconds or less than 5 seconds ? What is good?

Hello,
I saw on different forum fews things about time of response when a challenge is asked to you.

Which one can win ? Does the Time must to be less than 30 seconds or less than 5 seconds ? or another ?

In these following Examples (i created from some forum i saw), you have one where time is over 30 seconds and other less :

It is my understanding that anything under 30 seconds is fine, because after 30 seconds the proofs are no longer eligible.

However, I don’t know if another computer on the network returning a proof “faster” will beat you to the reward?

I don’t know about your last question unfortunately.
This way to win is not very clear and i am surprised that on the chia wiki or documentation, they don’t explain all these things more clearly.

A lot of people make plots but when you see the probability to win discreases day by day because the total network space increases quickly… I ask myself between the investment (HDD, SDD, etc.), cost of electricity, etc… if it’s really a way to make green thing and win money.

It is important to add that there can be multiple winners and they all get the full reward! This is a surprising feature of the lottery for many people. All farmers with plots that pass the threshold will win 2 XCH. To keep the win rate at an acceptable level, the threshold will be adjusted up or down if more or less proofs than expected are found.
