I don’t know if you can do that Linux, but I also didn’t realize it was going to be an issue.
Not sure if it’s applicable to your scenario, but I had drive troubles via hubs / docks.
I went to bios and changed the setting so bios controls usb controllers rather than the o/s doing it.
Seemed to help me I think.
