My chia is not syncing

Hey guys I ran into a problem. My Chia is not syncing. Even though I have free storage space does anyone know anything about this.

My Chia Farm runs on Raspberry Pi 8GB ram Ubuntu sd card 128gb

Do you have the main db net file and wallet in this SD card? If yes this is the problem.

78G only for this folder, plus Chia software and ubuntu may be you don’t have enought free space to continue farming.

You can see your free space writing in a shell: df -h

Don’t use an SD card as it doesn’t work well : use a USB stick, any cheap stick will do and work fine

My understanding is that USB sticks are much more prone to wear, although I have no data as far as TBW for them, so may be not exactly true.

On the other hand, some RPi owners reported moving their dbs to one of the farming HDs, and had success that that.

Hi I’m pretty new to Linux.
So to your first question yeah I have them on the SD card but it’s only ~50% full.
By the way I’m not farming from the SD card I’m just setting up the db.

So you’re suggesting that they move the wallet on the db the hard drive? To fix it?

Thanks I’m going to try it out.

Two reasons to not have neither blockchain nor wallet dbs on SD card. First is wear, as at some point chia may/will kill that SD card. The second is speed, as even if you use a fast SD card, it will be much slower than USB attached HD.

Also, for RPis, you may want to limit the number of peers down to 20 or 10, as otherwise, that puts too much strain on the main block processing process. For the past two/three weeks, we have an elevated mem pool, so the number of transactions is a bit higher, what may be another reason that your RPi cannot keep up.

Please take a look on “…mainnet/log/debug.log” of your chia folder and in a shell: cat debug.log | grep malformed

If something like this apears: ERROR sync from fork point failed err: database disk image is malformed

You will need to download the blockchain_v1_mainnet.sqlite from a web. Or you can delete this file and wait for several days to sync from 0.

If it is malformed, you can sync again with the new DB version of chia 1.3
I used to have the same problem in pi 4 4gb and everything is working fine since i installed the db in an NVME

This way, you can have your blockchain db on one drive and your wallet on another, giving each a bit more io headroom.

You could also symlink your folders, if that works better for you.

If you need to re-download the blockchain because of a malformed blockchain database, feel free to use Elysium Pool’s blockchain bootstrap service to get synced back up quickly!
