My first external HDD died! :(

Bury it in the yard. Say a prayer. A tree will grow.

Cross ur fingers n hope it was just a one off and ur not doomed.

Keep ur drives cool as possible

I use all internal drives in external enclosures but during warmer times I have a low power fan bringing the external temp of the enclosure down to ambient room temp. (it doesn’t feel warm to the touch) The enclosures aren’t even rated for the 20TB drives that I have in them (16 TB max)- I am sure it is not rated for the heat dissipation (just consider that all the wattage consumed is converted to heat) because they work. This setup is for sure a warrantee violation. I find if things don’t get hot they generally don’t die.
