Flexfarmer was the product of FlexPool, which POOL ended operations entirely months ago (they also had other coins they worked with at the time, the ENTIRE pool shut down).
It was not a product of Gigahorse, though it appears to have had some input from Max to be able to work with his compressed plots.

I’ve got tons of farming on machines with DDR3.
It’s not FARMING that’s high intensity (unless you are using huge compression levels, then it’s the GPU that matters not the RAM), it’s high speed PLOTTING that is very memory intensive.

My point is that FlexFarmer flat out does not exist any more in an updated version, and the people that would update it no longer run a poll AT ALL for Flexfarmer to work with.

Bob, you need to research what you want to write about first. Software doesn’t die like you are trying to suggest, but rather may be transferred to a new maintainer (if there is an interest). (Flex has offered it to Max to take the ownership of it, as far as I know.)

YOU are the one that needs to do some research here.

FlexFarmer was tied to FlexPool, SPECIFIC to it.
While it is possible for some other POOL to take it over (without a POOL behind it or willing to support it), Max can’t do anything with it. He can update it for the newer type plots all he wants, but with no POOL to run the backend part it does no good.

In THEORY, he could start his own pool - but Max hasn’t shown any interest in doing so or doing the extra amount of WORK to do so.

That’s the reason I mentioned that Felix would need to integrate it with his pool (as flex offered to xfr the sources). Also, I mentioned that an interest needs to be there to revive it. But you missed it, right.

I’m currently replotting to 43 GiB plots, that’s c30, smaller plots are available, oh and remote compute.

Just jump ship to GH, you’ll benefit, and the block chain will benefit by becoming more decentralised, and if that happens it’s possible that CNI might decide not to release a new plot format.

You could also replot to gigahorse or drplotter, both have remote compute
