Nvme with PCIe 2.0 adapter

I have an outdated motherboard that only supports pcie 2.0 16x. I purchased the Inland Premium 2TB nvme and about to get an adapter. From my understanding I can get 1,000mb/s through the outdated slot.

I’m trying to figure out the best multiplot setup for my limited hardware.

Will the slot handle the 5 plots at once on 2tb with the limited transfer speed? Would it make sense to run 2 smaller nvme drives through separate slots if possible? Or consider USB 3.0 externally?

I think pcie 2.0 x 4 is 2000 MB/s

That should be enough, the nvme won’t go higher than that anyway over a long run
