Plots compression using GUI

Hello,
Sorry I am late in plot compression. Now that I have a new hard drive, I want to create compressed plots. Is there a way in Chia GUI using its builtin plotters to generate compressed plots?
If not what is the most popular way to create compressed plots?
Thanks

Yes Gigahorse make plots faster and smaller…

The best compression right now is a dogfight between Gigahorse, NoSSD, and DrPlotter.
DrPlotter seems to have the best high-end compression but also the highest minimum requirements (12GB 3090 or 4090 or go home), the others have options that are a little lower but can be run on lower-end hardware.
CNI is 2 full generations behind on it’s compression at this point, and they don’t seem to be interested in catchup since the new plot formats have been announced to be going active in the next 2 years or so (though they seem to have added DrPlotter to their supported options in their wallet/farmer/plotter).

The above post is misinformation.

Drplotter requires a 24GB gpu.

Any mention of 12GB vram gpus are misinformation and would almost certainly contain a virus. QuintLeo is actively trying to get you to download malware to steal every xch you have.

No, I misremembered how huge the memory requirements are.
And where was I trying to get anyone to download anything? SHOW ME.

I HATE false accusations - which the MAJORITY of your TROLL post was.

Ok, so just to confirm

  1. You did not intend to get people to download malware
  2. You dont understand basic chia concepts
  3. You have been here for 3 years

And we are suppose to believe this?
Got it.

Totally bro, I super believe everything you are telling me.
Any more links you need to dm or u good for now?
Thanks bruv

Before he deletes his account…

I didn’t say anything about downloading NOR provide any link anywhere in this thread.
I don’t remember IF I posted the alleged link you CLAIM I provided, nor did you bother providing enough information to even identify the THREAT that post was in OR WHAT I WAS REPLYING TO.
I MISREMEMBERED the memory requirements of a specific Chia-related program that I’ve never used.

What is your issue with TROLLING me?

And what is this GARBAGE about “delete my account” over being TROLLED?

Oh wait, you’ve been seen to troll people before.

Interesting that you don’t call out “tom_fm” or “drhicom” for posting links.

I have never seen those users actively post malware tho. I mean its cool bro, just you do you. Im just not going to install the software you sent me, also because I know that drplotter doesnt have a win64 binary so im not going to run the exe u linked. You might get someone else but im not going to run it I already know about this kind of stuff. And even if I did run it (im not going to) I farm to a cold wallet so its fine.

If you want ill run your app in a vm and just send abuse reports to the c&c server it connects to, no trouble. I got 15 minutes. soooooo u might want to update your exe w/ different urls bruv

SERIOUS strawman argument, as you’ve never seen me post malware, OR “send you” any software or links.

It IS very interesting that you talk about a binary but didn’t bother to post a link including one just a CLAIMED partial link that I supposedly posted (and a VERY incomplete message including the alleged link to malware).

your right bro I made it all up bro.

its not like I would post active malware from your dm to here because that could get me into trouble bro.

Given I can’t find the post with the phrase you CLAIM I had in it, after doing a forums search, I’m starting to think you DID make the whole lie up.

I don’t know HOW to do a DM on this software - which just makes it even MORE suspicious when you claim I sent you a DM.

I have an older i7 with 32gb ran, no gpu. Not sure if I can even create compressed plots with this configuration

GPUs are not needed to create compressed plots.

GPUs are needed to harvest compressed plots, fast enough to respond to block challenges (unless the compression is minimal, where a reasonably fast CPU can go-it alone).

GPUs will create compressed plots faster than CPU-only plot creation. But compressed plots can be created with any non-ancient CPU.

Speed, provided by a GPU, is needed only for harvesting compressed plots; not for creating compressed plots.

It will work with NoSSD version 1 for both compression AND farming.
It will work with later versions for compression, but not for farming.
With that amount of RAM, you’ll need to have temp files on at least one HD with enough spare space, optimally a SSD or a SSD RAID array - will make it pretty slow but it’s work.

It should work with any of the GPU compression options, IF you have a GPU in the machine that’s recent enough and has enough GPU RAM.

GPUs ARE needed for some versions of some of the compressed plotter options, but not all of them. DrPlotter for example REQUIRES a GPU for compression OR farming.

It WON’T work with any of the “do all the creation work in RAM” options.
