Rational behind getting a m.2 vs SSD

Hi,

If I’m not aiming at continuously adding HDD space then is it really worth buying a m.2 for creating the plots vs a SSD. I understand the m.2 will create plots faster but as I understand it once my HDDs are full then I have no more use for my plot creating drive until I add more HDDs. Or am I missing something?

Thanks
Avve

Basically correct but the speed difference between sata and nvme is pretty big though. Sata wil only run 1-3 plots at a time.

Btw you can also plot directly on hdd’s (one plot at a time pee hdd) slow but costs nothing
