No luck…I tried it and it moved the wallet a little but I’m hosed. I stopped chia, uninstalled 1.2.10 and installed 1.2.9. Same thing…I get these errors…

My node went to red nit synched mode instead of seeing how far I have to go and what I have as well as my wallet is sitting at 72.699. I have lots of connections but something is amiss.
If anyone would be willing to do a teamview with me, please let me know as Im not getting anywhere. TY in advance. Larry
Man that sucks, good luck.
My issues were similar, thankfully uninstalling and reinstalling worked for me.
just de-installed 1.29 and upgraded to 1.2.10. The wallet is moving again. It is now at 72,794 and holding. Ugggggggggggg…whats wrong…LOL
I am really sorry to hear of your struggles.
The Chia network has been choked today due to transaction spamming, which could easily have affected your syncing. But I don’t know if that is all, since you had problems already yesterday.
The trouble areas I can think of are:
Network/router: Restart your router. Make sure it forwards port 8444 to the computer running your full node. If you use UPnP (enabled in config.yaml) then make sure UPnP is enabled on your router. I know you were doing fine before the 1.2.10 update…
The disk holding your OS (keyring) and .chia folder: Check it for errors. Optimize it (trim/defrag). Make sure it isn’t close to full. Use HWiNFO64 or other tool to check the SMART health of the disk.
An error when 1.2.10 migrated your keys, causing problems whenever they are read. But I have a hard time seeing how that could cause slow syncing, as long as it can read the new keys.
What I would do in your case is temporarily run Chia on another PC to see if it syncs faster. Let it create a new config using your mnemonic. Then close the Chia client and copy the blockchain db from your current PC (.chia/mainnet/db/blockchain_v1_mainnet.sqlite) so you don’t have to start over syncing that. Make sure to close Chia on both PCs when you copy that file! Maybe even restart Windows first, as suggested by @Aspy68. Once the node is synced on the new PC (which should be fast) see how the wallet syncing goes.
If you try on another PC, then make sure your router forwards port 8444 to it: Either manual forwarding or make sure UPnP is enabled and Chia is closed on the old PC.
This would be just a test. If it syncs faster, you know something is afoul in your old PC. In a situation like that I would check very, very thoroughly for malware, then roll back to an earlier backup or System Restore Point.
That’s all I can think of ATM. I have to go to bed now. I truly hope you crack this. Good luck buddy!
That’s not good enough You need to check that you don’t have any orphaned Chia processes still running. This is potentially the root cause of all those problems.
If you are on Windows, before you close, start Task Manager, sort those columns by name, expand Chia (you will see there over 10 processes). Once you see that, you can close your Chia, and watch Task Manager. Once Task Manager doesn’t have that Chia folder, you can assume that all those dbs are closed, and thus start copying stuff around.
No need to restart the box, when you monitor it in Task Manager.
Also, my ChiaDog is acting up (right now). I have never seen it before. It just started today. It says that my full node skipped few signage points. I guess, that indicates that Chia is still in not healthy state. So you may still have problems synchronizing your blockchain.
I also don’t think that you have problems with your router. I mean, it is possible that it going down, but I assume you have it for few years already, and it would be a super coincidence to have it go bad on the same day when Chia is having issues.
True. Which is why I updated my post to suggest restarting Windows before copying. As suggested by @Aspy68 here yesterday.
Please post any other suggestions you have, as I am all out.
No worries, we are on the same page trying to type as fast as we can to help him out.
One thing I would add Larry: The ONLY issue here is getting your farm and wallet running again. Your XCH is not going anywhere, as we discussed yesterday.
It would take a Chia specific compromise of your computer for those to be at risk, which is low probability. In fact, as long as your wallet isn’t sync’ed they would have to steal your master key or mnemonic.
If you know your receive address(es) you can monitor hour holdings using Chia Explorer
I think we have two problems here. One is mangled db, the other problems with Chia network. Those two are just compounding those problems.
I am close to say that the blockchain db got mangled really badly, and needs to be either restored (from some old backup / other machine) or recreated. The fact that walled db is acting up is just a secondary effect of the main blockchain mangled.
I know it sucks as hell, but those network problems we have today are really not helping.
Lastly, I just glanced over Chives fork. On their download page, they have their blockchain db ready for download. I know, Chia blockchain is over 20GB now, but still think Chia Net should let people download it, especially seeing more and more people being screwed by Chia software corrupting their dbs. It really suck.
We had exchange with @Aspy68 in the other thread, where he stated that potentially Chia Net doesn’t really care about us farmers, but is 100% focused on their banking plans. Maybe that is the reason why we get so little support from them.
I also agree that there is a chance that the drive where Chia is installed is corrupted, and unfortunately has a bad sector under blockchain db. If that would be the case, that db is now worthless.
I would also not spend too much time optimizing that disk right now, as that may manifest is some slowdowns here and there, but not really like contributing to this problem. Although, it would be good to do it, once the system is humming again.
By the way, I am still on v1.2.6, and am not really thrilled to upgrade to v1.2.11
As XCH / wallet issue was brought up, again, I would not worry about that. I don’t think that the current Chia attacking malwares are that sophisticated, so as @AnyFarmer said, no need to worry about that part.
Can someone confirm whether blockchain db has any personal data, or that is just purely blockchain snapshot?
If that is just pure blockchain snapshot, they I would take an USB stick, and go to one of your friends, and get his/her db. That may be the fastest route (assuming that the issue will not be resolved, as looks like we are just beating the bushes right now). db is just db, so no worries that it could contain some bad crap (sure it can, but someone would need to work a bit to make it happen).
I mean, I think that that db is just a purse snapshot, as other forks offer it for download.
Can’t be sure, but I know others have shared theirs for download and I’ve heard no horror stories yet.
Thank you for all the replies. I upgraded last night around 1930PST. I do not know when Chia started to have an issue? Does anyone know a time?
I’m letting it go through the night. 77,945 is where my wallet is at. What height does it need to go to? Also, I have many full nodes with lots of throughputs and I’m in red ‘Not Synched’. It was synched just fine earlier and then around 1530PST it went Red and has been there ever since. This is the strangest issue I have seen yet.
I deleted my DB’s per suggestion, I have upgraded, downgraded, made sure all processes are gone even after deleting Chia. It is like watching a drip out of a hose vs continuous water coming out.
This has been the most painful Chia experience yet. It all started around 1930 yesterday. Very strange. 77986 is my wallet now so you can see it is just dripping along.
I will ck my disks when I get up tomorrow. We shall see what it brings. Thank you all for trying to help and I’m open to doing a TeamViewer session with anyone if interested. TY again. Larry
I can take a guess, sat morning at 10 ish am uk time my ram usage started rising, i assume that is the extra load from the mempool being flooded.
Although it was rising slightly since Fri night but no where near as sharply, so maybe it started Fri afternoon / eve then intensified sat.
I believe you just found the problem, Larry: If you have many full nodes running on the same network that’s why it’s syncing so slowly. That’s a Chia no-no, although it’s usually OK, as long as the nodes are all synced and only need to keep up with the blockchain.
It is exacerbated by the spamming attack that has been choking the network the last 24 hours or so. But you saw slow syncing even before that attack, and now we know why.
Somebody may chime in saying they’ve run multiple full nodes on the same network without problem. I have too when I was setting up another PC as alternative node. It DOES work, but syncing will be slow because the nodes are competing for the same packages from the network, and the router can only forward incoming 8444 packages to one node.
You have to make sure that only one of the full nodes has UPnP enabled. I recommend the one you’re now syncing. But even then, it will be probably slower to sync. You should add the nodes to each other as peers under Connections, which may speed up things.
The good news is that you can copy your .chia\mainnet\wallet\db\blockchain_wallet_v1_mainnet_xxxxxxxxxx.sqlite file from one of the synced nodes. But only IF they’re using the same wallet (xxxxxxxxxx must be the same). As always, clients must be completely shut down before copying. That’s what I would do in your situation.
I read that as meaning he was connected to many nodes, not him having many main nodes.
Perhaps wrongly though.
Once I deleted my wallet reading some suggestion and it took over a week to sync up the system. They may have improved the software now. Since then, I run a scrip to do automatic backup of wallet database and blockchain database twice a week, which may help in future.
Oh I see. I think you’re right. @Lsherring if that’s the case, you can just ignore my last post. And we’re back to square one.
I’ve normally run chia start farmer-no-wallet which means my wallet is always out of sync. Anytime I loaded GUI, it would sync the wallet - and do so very quickly, spinning through tens of blocks per second.
Those are live databases, are you doing a native sqlite live backup (if such a thing exists), or just copying those files?
