1U GPU Farmin NoSSD Tesla P100

Hi Teams,
I am trying to build a 1U server with 1 GPU and 1 HBA for JBOD.
Is anyone, ever tried a GPU Tesla P100 with the NoSSD software ?
Mainly for farming.

Thank you.

I’m using a P40. Kinda wish I had the P100 now.

Thank you for the info.
You are using P40 with the NoSSD client, am I correct?
Are you plotting or farming, or both ?

I’m using it to farm now but yes, I was plotting with it too.

Thank you for your reply.
Do you think than a P100 could work?
Do you know some people or forum where I can read things about NoSSD and P100?

Does that thing even fit into a 1U server?

I agree with you.
Does it even fit?
But there are some vendors that even add 2 x GPU P100 in a 1U server.
I will contact them and let you know.
It seems that they use a supermicro motherboard, the one for the blades, like long and thin one and they add 1 x GPU on each side, with 2 server fans for each GPU.

But I have one question for you.
Did you ever plot and farm with a P100 GPU with NoSSD client software?

No, and I don’t recall anyone doing that, or on gigahorse or bladebit either. P4, a lot, some p40 but not p100

And what I read here would be cause for concern to me (power states).

Also remember that these need external power in the form of a pcie-8pin which a lot of servers do not have

If you don’t mind a bit of DIY, here’s a 1U Dell R620 that I modified to use an external GPU. You no longer need to be constrained to internal GPUs and the loud fans required to cool them  .
I never plotted with NoSSD, but it used to churn out C8 plots in 4.3 mins with a 1070.

Not bad, and I agree the small servers fans are very noisy.

all server fans are noisy :joy:

There were 92mm fans in my 4U case, they made more noise than vacuum clearner. Replaced them with 140mm fans, now all is well. But this is only possible because I have half the bays empty so it allows for good airflow.
