@madMAx43v3r why is -m 8 so much faster than not setting it?

Works with up to -n 20 , more than that and uses all memory and crashes

Ubuntu linux on an old 1tb hdd

you mean upper case -M 8 ? it’s just a memory management issue in the kernel, it depends how much free RAM you have.

Budget plotter update

I threw out the 64 GB ram and replaced it with 8 x 16 GB at £50

HP Z420 Quad core Xeon - £60
8 x 16 GB server memory - £50
GTX 1060 6GB - £70
Used SSD

C6 plot time just under 9 minutes

P.S. my joke about -m 8’s rates fell completely flat
