NoSSD Chia Pool update! GPU mining, 50.3GiB plots, >200% reward, new CPU & GPU plotters

my 3060 12gb only uses around 4gb when plotting. is this normal? tried to set more vram to it but it just doesn’t go up. the set up is 3950x with 128gb ram

just one thing i notice is that in one of my systems i have nearly 24hdds other smaller other bigger.
the NOSSD starts plotting equal space on 4-5 big disks and lets the smaller ones with a small file only inside. the plotting with 24disks with a Dell 730xd with 256gb ram is about 12-15mins aprox…so filling the disks fast enough

wait so i just spent 2 months plotting to c7 Blade bit and just come on here to find this… fk me

its great

There’s also Gigahorse by Madmax which goes up to C20, which is just slightly bigger than a NoSSD C15.

It’s alright, you’ll have years to wait before you can get c15 on bladebit …

I just installed an RTX 4080 on a system with 256GB of DDR4 RAM in Linux; I was expecting sub-2 minute plots to an enterprise NVME but they were over 2 minutes. Anyone have these system specs plotting and farming NoSSD? (my warning/error was that not enough memory)

Tried nossd plotting. No mining. 1080 GPU. 768GB DDR3.

GPU plot creation is 8 minute.
CPU plot creation is faster, 6 minutes. Dual Xeon 2680V2.
-d is ramdisk. Not really fast though, about 1GB/sec.

Had the following message for both method.

21:27:34 Allocating memory…
21:27:34 WARNING: Failed to increase process memory quotas
21:27:34 WARNING: 103.55GiB of memory allocated but only 0.00GiB were locked in physical memory to prevent swapping. This usually does not affect performance
21:27:34 103.55GiB of memory allocated
21:27:34 WARNING: Unable to open file in direct mode, performance will be degraded

The warning can be removed by setting the ulimit limit on locked memory

I think the other is saying it can’t bypass the block cache. What type of device are you plotting to?
Edit ah I see, ramdisk don’t support directio, try an ssd

Did you try with with V2.2?

I have a similar system, 256GB DDR4 RAM with a 4070Ti on ubuntu 20.04, and I get under 70 second plot times. About 1 min 40 sec when running two instances at once. Could it be a RAM or NVME bottleneck?

I have the same issue on the same chipset as that, dual Xeon 2670v2. Try with a fast SSD if you have one to see if it works, but it didn’t help for me. I think the issue has to do with the dual CPUs and separate memory channels that they each control not being utilized correctly for whatever reason. NUMA enabled or disabled made no difference.

Thank you very much.

dual xeon v2 is just dirt old, 10 years old.

I tested RAID 0 (10x600GB 10K SAS mechanical) and it is faster than ram disk for nossd plotting.

How to do GPU plot and CPU plotting in parallel? I tried and it did not start second plotting.

ERROR: Failed to lock file “/home/user/.config/NoSSDChiaPool/cache”: Another instance of the program may be running. Use -s switch to run multiple clients in parallel.

what -s switch?

Hello I plot with my CPU on my server and with GPU on the workstation. The CPu makes bigger in size plots when the GPU smaller ones. (all in default compresion) now the question is that if i take the HDD from the GPU plotter into the CPU controlled JBOD will it work??

@bwfree having the same issue you had earlier mate. Showing as 0 unpaid on website but shares still being registered. What was your fix?

Update.

Success. Use -s switch to define a cache file location.

Now GPU plotting and dual CPU plotting are working at the same time.

Old DELL R720 Dual 2680V2 with 1080 GPU. CPU plotting is faster than GPU plotting.

“Enterprise” SSDs like the Intel Optane models don’t take forever to destroy - they are longer lasting than consumer, but commonly only 2-3 times the duration of the best consumer models.
If you have a LARGE farm and insist on using a SSD, use one of the PNY “Chia” models (they’re still available direct from PNY, model LX3030 in 2TB) or get one of those smaller ones Digital Spaceport is selling that use the same technology - and DO last nearly forever (50,000 TBWritten under the PNY spec, the Digital Starport ones are smaller so proportional lifespan to the relative size since they use the SAME flash technology).

For reference, even ENTERPRISE SSD models are only specified for perhaps 3000 TBW for a 2TB model, while most consumer models are under 1000.

4070ti CAN in fact plot and farm at the same time - you have to set the memory to lower than defaults, something under 6GB on each.

Your COST OF ELECTRIC matters a lot.
For me, it worked out to C15 (I’ve got a bit over 1PB raw HD space now) - but I’ve also got one of the 3 cheapest electric rates in the USA to work with (and a senior discount as well!).
