Selling 18TB WD Gold drives - 20 units

Same here, it would be stay away from crypto!

Alternatively, get masses plotted/farmed prior to launch, and make sure you sell all XCH on 15 May 2021

Ouch!

More ouch!

characters reached!

Storj and Chia had some similar “basic” concepts.
But the limits on payouts on Storj make it pretty much impossible to make any money for YEARS at best if you try to work around those limits so there is a lot less incentive even POSSIBLE to “buy lots of hardware to make lots of income”.

The fat lady hasnt sung, the dice are still rolling, and learning to dance in the rain is priceless.

Odd, I’ve got several albums of fat ladies singing, and heard many others.
Aretha Franklin, Ann Wilson, among others.

It’s a saying, it isn’t over until the fat lady sings, but I suspect you may already know that.

I have known the saying for decades.
Never did like it.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus ended when the fat lady sang. At least that is what I recall from decades ago.

An only sometimes-true opera reference.

“When the resonant one belts it”

So, Master Ronski, the high compression Plot with high power GPU is more cost and energy efficient than lower compression plot with lower end GPU.

Is this correct?

Even DrPlot only claims “more efficient” in specific use cases.
They also don’t appear to include the cost of more machines needed and more power usage as a result.
But hard drives do use power, commonly in the 10 watt per drive ballpark, so it’s possible for a GPU-assisted setup to be more efficient than a Hard Drive only setup.

It varies, but I suspect there is a sweet spot for each farm size, no idea where that sweet spot lies though.

If you had a 4090 you could farm 3 PiB of c29 plots at filter 256, you’d need about 150 22TB discs (based on 20TiB formatted space). 3 PiB raw at c29 = 6.33 PiBe.

To do that with C0 plots you’d need more than double the discs, if each drive used 7w that would be 1050w of extra power compared to a 4090 which would probably average around 380w according to my Google search. You’d need less racks to house your drives as well, so clearly compression is more efficient, but there is so many variables, and that’s beyond me.

Note: I don’t have a 22TB drive so not sure the formatted space is correct, but it illustrates the point. Also I’m not good at maths so there may be errors!

In the US, I just bought a dozen 14TB SAS, used, of course, for $75 each on eBay.

Price drop yet? I make it to nyc for work about once a month and would be happy to buy a few disks. Can’t afford the lot at any price.

Yeah, price dropped. How far depends on how many…
