Selling my HDDs

FYI I am starting to list my HDDs for sale here: brianpedigo | eBay

I have approximately 1,500 hard drives to sell. Contact me if you have bulk order interest. From 8TB - 18TB drives.

do you have 1500 working hard drives? really? maybe his account stolen? lol

Can you make them available to Canada too please. Our prices suck here.

I have been following the Chia Lawyer for long time. Don’t quit please.

IIRC he has a 22 PiB farm.

I wonder if he’s just selling off smaller drives and replacing with 20TB+ drives.

Edit: Looking on Discord it seems the heat has just got too much, so clearly down sizing.

Whatever it is that the team of 50 is doing at CNI it isn’t working.

On CNI’s heavily controlled discord the problem was “the heat”, but as you can see from the video above, the real problem is the price of Chia, CNI’s performance, and the desperate using of the Pre-Mine.

To be fair, the problem I might have this summer (if we ever get one in the UK) is the heat. My farm will be shutting down (automatically, when my scripts trigger…) when it gets too warm.

But yes, the price of XCH is a big factor. If it was profitable, I’d suffer a bit of excess heat, but if it’s borderline, the excess heat I can do without…

Problem solved

And use that air conditioner to provide hot water for the entire block to get some extra cash.

He also mentioned on Discord that his profitable price was $27, pretty sure he’s always said he’ll shut his farm down when it was no longer profitable/dropped below $27.

Given the filter halving he would have seen a big increase in both costs and heat, and as per the video he’s shut his farm down.

Better to use an Evaporative cooler, if you’re in a moderately dry area.
That Industrial probably uses ballpark 1500 watts, where my Evaps use a little over 500 for up to 24000 BTU of cooling (it’s VERY dry where I’m at most the time) - and Evaps come larger than my Brisa 3500CFM units.

Not just shut his farm down, he has everything for sale, he is out.

Thats good for us! When this people leave I get bullish! They will buy in back when the price start to go up again.

Not exactly. Watch that video above.

He has about 40PB worth of HDs that he purchased at roughly peak prices. So, it is not fun for him selling it all at quarter of the price right now. What he has listed on eBay are just HDs below 18 TB, so clearly, he is selling the least efficient drives.

He also stated that if the XCH price will go above $33, he will turn it on again. Also, he is on the fence with eventually switching to MMX (no GPUs needed; I mean ~k2200 is needed for the farmer to validate VDFs, but that’s it).

Did you watch the video?

I’m trying to figure out why his “profitable” price is so high.
I’ve no clue where he’s at - is he somewhere with high cost electric?

The problem with chia, although I couldn’t tell you the cause, is that the price has done nothing but go down over time. Just look at the graph from the beginning until now. No investor in their right mind would Look at that and say, “You know, I think I’ll drop a wad of cash on this promising crypto.” Sure it has a few upticks but the constant trend is downward. I’ll let the developers in on a little secret. Nobody gives a flop if the crypto is greener if all it does is decompose. Nobody is buying your save the planet nonsense. If that was the only trick under your hat then maybe time to move along, you already played it. If you have something else, now might be a good time. Otherwise do your dump and sell your premine while you still can and be done with it. Just sayin what I think.
I hope the next storage based blockchain does better than Burst/Signum Bitcoin HDD or Chia. At this point I don’t see much difference between the three.

Did you read the first post in this thread? That was 2 days after the video, he’s selling it all 1500 drives.
