Can anyone tell me what changed in firmware 2.5.7 that caused my latency to drop from 320ms to 60ms?
I’ve had it at 300ms for two years.
Any ideas?
Nobody from CNI has answered this. The best I’ve been able to find is these 2 commits from RC-1:
I don’t know that either of these are in any way connected, but this is the best I can do.
The improvement is pretty drastic.
it’s tough to say for sure without knowing exactly what hardware and firmware (vendor, router/adapter type, etc.) you have — but there are several common mechanisms by which a firmware update (say “2.5.7”) might cause a latency drop from ~320 ms down to ~60 ms. Here are plausible explanations, and what to look into.
I’m genuinely curious which AI so thoroughly misunderstood the question and missed the context so much it generated that sloppy spam as a result. Definitely an AI to avoid in the future.
I don’t know the answer to this one, but wouldn’t a drop in latency be good ? As @madderhat implies, lower latency is a good thing.
Obviously, it’s good.
Although in milliseconds, the difference is insignificant for C33 plots…
known bug
`I know 2.5.5 had some bugs, I would upgrade to 2.5.7 and see if that resolves the issues (note 2.5.7 will incorrectly indicate lower harvester latency, a fix for that is in the works)`
And everything is clear… There are no miracles… Even liquid nitrogen and El Capitan won’t help…
